First 1000 Days Australia has been cited in the Department of Social Services three-year action plan Driving Change: Intervening Early, which forms part of the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009–2020.

1. Early intervention with a focus on the early years, particularly the first 1000 days for a child

On 9 June 2016, the National Congress of Australia's First Peoples signed the Redfern Statement which has called on the next Federal Government to commit to investing in the First 1000 Days. It called for the incoming government to provide adequate investment for the launch of the Australian Model of the First 1000 Days, an Indigenous-led, holistic initiative which seeks to provide coordinated, comprehensive intervention to address the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families from pre-conception to two years of age.
